• Pain and cravings – Methadone is often used for patients who need to curb cravings or pain related to withdrawal.
• Mood fluctuations and relapse – Without the feelings of euphoria that opiates may induce, it can be difficult not to relapse. Buprenorphine can be prescribed to help patients who may be prone to relapse or have difficulty functioning without an opiate.
• Drug dependency – If you are concerned that you may simply end up replacing opiate or alcohol addiction with a dependency on a different drug, you may consider Naltrexone, a drug designed to work without inducing euphoric feelings.
